Volunteers needed for Horbury Beavers, Cubs and Scouts


The 8th Wakefield Scout Group has opportunities available for volunteers working with the young children, other leaders and on the group executive committee.

All our current leaders & volunteers have busy work, home and social lives and yet still find extra time to come and help us, their local Scout Group with activities both on evenings, weekends and on camps.

Over the last few years we have enjoyed large numbers of young people
wanting to be Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. The success of the group means
that we are holding names on waiting lists, to the point now where we have had to close the lists and are no longer accepting any more entries.

We have been very fortunate in our group to have some really committed
leaders and it is with regret that we have recently lost two leaders with several years experience, through illness and moving area. This loss has had a big impact on our leadership team.

For the 8th Wakefield Scouts to continue to grow, be successful and provide the great range of activities for our young people, we need some help. In particular we require:
•Leaders for all sections (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts)
•A Fundraiser

Our ultimate goal would be to open new sections and give the scouting
experience to even more youngsters. If you would be prepared to commit your time to volunteer to enable the youngsters of Horbury develop their skills in a safe environment then we would like to hear from you. Training and support is given and in addition the role allows you to try activities that you may not have tried before e.g. abseiling, canoeing, scuba diving amongst others it can
also enhance your career prospects!

We appreciate the support that parents give to the group and we would really appreciate it if you or someone you know would be willing to come forward and volunteer your time to the youngsters of Horbury.
